Launch Control — Privacy Policy
Launch Control is an iOS app that helps you plan your morning and get out the door on time. It is built so that your personal routine stays on your device. This page explains, plainly, what the app does and does not collect.
Your morning data stays on your device
Everything you create in the app — your mornings, steps, names, time estimates, measured durations, wake and leave times, launch kits, and session history — is stored in a local database on your iPhone. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. There are no accounts and no cloud sync. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
Anonymous usage analytics
To understand whether the app works — for example, how many people complete onboarding or finish a morning on time — we use PostHog, an analytics service, with data hosted in the European Union. What is sent is deliberately content-free:
- A fixed set of event names (such as “morning armed” or “paywall shown”) with a small set of closed values like a step position number or a yes/no flag, plus when the app is opened, closed, installed, or updated.
- A random install identifier, generated on your device and hashed (SHA-256) before it is sent. It is not your name, email, device identifier, or advertising ID, and it cannot be traced back to you.
- Basic technical details the analytics library adds automatically: app version, device model (such as “iPhone”), iOS version, screen size, language and region setting, time zone, and whether you are on Wi-Fi or cellular.
The content of your routine — step names, titles, times, durations, locations — never leaves your device as part of analytics. No prices, payment details, or personal identifiers are included either. PostHog uses your IP address to estimate an approximate location — country, region, city, postal code and approximate coordinates — stores that location with the events, and then discards the IP address itself. Analytics never record screens, taps, or recordings of your use of the app. Earlier versions of Launch Control used TelemetryDeck for the same purpose, under the same content-free rules.
Notifications and alarms
Alarms, wake-up handoffs, and reminders (such as the notice before a free trial ends) are scheduled locally on your device through Apple’s system frameworks. No notification content is sent to us.
Subscriptions
Membership is purchased through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. Apple’s handling of that data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. To confirm your membership, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives your App Store purchase records and a random identifier it creates for this install — never your routine. Once per install, RevenueCat also receives an attribution token from Apple’s AdServices framework, which it exchanges with Apple to learn whether you installed Launch Control from an Apple Ads campaign and, if so, which campaign, ad group and keyword. We use this only to measure our own Apple Ads; it does not involve the advertising identifier or tracking permission. The app records only whether a valid membership exists, and analytics record only the chosen plan (yearly, monthly, or lifetime) and whether it started as a free trial — never prices or transaction details.
Who receives data
Only three parties are involved: Apple (App Store purchases, Apple Ads attribution and system services), RevenueCat (confirming App Store memberships, as described above), and PostHog (the anonymous, content-free analytics described above). We do not sell data, run third-party ads, or share data with anyone else.
Your choices
- Notification permission is optional and can be changed anytime in iOS Settings.
- Deleting the app deletes all of your morning data, because it only ever existed on your device.
Because the analytics identifier is random and hashed, we cannot link analytics events to you, and therefore cannot look up or export data about a specific person — there is nothing identifying to find.
Children
Launch Control is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
